A GARDEN OF IDEAS IN BLOOM

In homage to poetry.
An echo of the Enlightenment.
A small, radiant fragment of An Island of Light.

This conceptual floral installation unfolds as a poetic landscape of dried flowers emerging from the pages of timeworn books. Created as a submission for the Homo Faber Biennial 2026 in Venice, the work invites a quiet reflection on beauty, knowledge, and the enduring power of human imagination.

Still life of daisies and book elements within Katya Hutter’s enlightenment-inspired floral concept.

A Garden of Ideas in Bloom / Dreaming of Enlightenment

This floral installation rises like a small, radiant fragment of An Island of Light: dried flowers emerging from the open pages of old books. Created by Katya Hutter and inspired by the sculptural poetic work of Es Devlin, as well as the spirit of the Enlightenment, the work transforms timeworn paper into vessels of luminous ideas, represented by flowers, each as unique as a human being.

The white and yellow blooms, dried yet vibrant, evoke the human longing for understanding, beauty, and the spark of a new thought. In their collective gesture, stretching upward and leaning outward, they reflect a shared desire for knowledge, for beauty, and for the emergence of new ideas through floral expression.

This conceptual floral design installation becomes a poetic statement—an island composed of books, dried flowers, and light. Presented as part of a contemporary artistic practice, it celebrates how poetry, philosophy, and human thought contribute to enlightenment, inviting us to look again, to think again, and to feel again.
