Homo Faber Biennal 2024: The Journey of Life

Art Direction by Luca Guadagnino and Nicolò Rosmarini
1 – 30 September 2024, Venice, Fondazione Giorgio Cini

Homo Faber 2024 takes you on a journey through a human life viewed through the lens of craftsmanship.
In immersive exhibitions staged across the magnificent spaces of Fondazione Giorgio Cini, discover hundreds of handcrafted objects made by talented craftspeople from all over the world. Enjoy exceptional scenography, live artisan demonstrations and unique experiences from culinary ones to special tours.

For Homo Faber 2024 Katya Hutter and an Amsterdam based artist and sculptor Cedric Laquieze created a "Throne of the Rose Fairy" sculpture, exhibited in the Afterlife section. This throne-like structure was crafted from diverse bones and skeletal structures reproducing a flower-like design on which a fairy made from real insect parts is dancing around preserved roses, apparently frozen in time

Alexandra Farms
International Floriculture Trade Fair

Katya won first place in Alexandra Farms’ annual Garden Rose Design Contest and was then commissioned to create an installation using Alexandra Farms varieties for the 2022 International Floriculture Trade Fair, which was highly praised.

For insights into this design, please read the article: 'The Natural, Ethereal Designs of Katya Hutter at IFTF 2022'.

“When Alexandra Farms asked me to create a floral arch similar to the one that won first place in this year’s Garden Roses Design Contest, I was in disbelief,” Katya says. “Being invited to design a large-scale floral installation for one of my favorite growers, using some of the most beautiful roses, felt like a dream come true!”
